Shape Bombylios
Shape_description Flaring flat, broad lip with convex upper surface and and concave lower surface, curving into a cylindrical neck; vertical ribbon handle emerges from the rim and rejoins the bottom of the neck at a bulge, below which is a conical body, with a rounded base, and a slight conical indentation at the bottom.

Decoration Interior of mouth black; lip decorated with concentric bands (black, reserved, purple, reserved, black); rim black; three brownish-black horizontal bars on handle; neck, reserved for black band just above bulge, frieze of tongues on upper part of bulge; brown band on lower part of bulge; body decorated with purple band, brownish-black band; reserved band decorated with three rows of brownish-black dots; thin purple band between two broader brownish-black bands; reserved on lower part of body and base.
Inscriptions
Condition Intact; decoration worn and slightly chipped, especially around mouth and handle.

Provenance In second consignment received on loan from Reading Museum, 1951.
